For years I placed myself on the back burner, while giving 120% to my two kids, my husband, heck - even my dog! Eventually, after decades of putting myself last, I could hardly recognize myself. I would walk by the mirror, see my reflection, and feel as if someone completely different was staring back at me.
I was overweight and completely disconnected from my own wants and needs. I had lost all sense of self and therefore struggled with even dreaming of a next chapter.
I was overwhelmed with losing weight while simultaneously figuring out what was next for me as my children went off to college.
It was then that I almost resigned to being overweight.
Then one day something sparked in me, and I decided to give up the overwhelm and focus my efforts on reaching small goals.
I set a goal of five pounds that month, and by making conscious healthy choices each day, I hit my goal.
The gentle weight-loss motivation grew from there, and as I physically began to feel better it was easier to focus on the things in life that brought me joy.
It was a slow process, but by ditching the overwhelm I was able to shift my focus and make lasting lifestyle changes that brought me true and lasting joy. Consistent baby steps were the key to my success, and now I help others achieve the same.
